Abstract

The vapour phase oxidation of 2- and 3-pyridinemethanols and their respective N-oxides, reported here for the first time, over V-Mo and MnO2 catalysts yielded corresponding pyridine carboxaldehydes at 400°C. V-Mo showed a high activity in comparison with the MnO2 catalyst. A possible mechanism is also discussed.
