Abstract
Substitution of Li+ into Co3O4 and ZnCo204 gives rise. to the solid solution series LiLix M1-x Co2O4(M = Co2+,Zn2+)having the spine1 structure upto x = 0.4. X-Ray dilfraction intensities show that the spine1 solid solutions are likely to have the following cation distributions: (Co2+)t[Lix+Co2-3xCo2x4+]O4 and (zn2+ 1-x Co2+x).[Lix+Co2-3xCo2x4+]O4. Electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient data indicate that the electron transport in these systems occurs by a small-polaron hopping mechanism.
