Abstract

A Keggin-type polyoxometalate (POM) 12-tungstocobaltate (II) ([CoII(W12O40)]6)) has been used as a catalyst for the oxidation of aliphatic and benzylic alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds. The reduced (POM) formed in the oxidation of alcohols is re-oxidized by potassium peroxomonopersulphate.
