Abstract

The reaction of phenol and formaldehyde yield hydroxymethyl phenol with high ortho selectivity over microporous titanium aluminophaste (TiAPO-5) molecular sieves. Further, in the presence of trialkylamine ortho-hydroxybenzaldehydes (salicylic aldehyde) was obtained as a major product.
