Abstract

Mo-containing silicalite-1 (MFI) samples with Si/Mo (mole) ratios in the range 80 to 300 have been synthesized hydrothemally and were characterized by different physico-chemical techniques such as SEM, XRD, BET, TG/DTA, FlIR, XPS, UV-visible spectra. The catalyst was found to be active for the chemoselective oxidation of various thioethers to the corresponding sulfoxides, without generation of sulfones, using 30% H2O2 as the oxidant.
