Abstract
The surface functionalities and their relative contributions of oxidized carbon by nitric acid are evaluated by DFT calculations. Though the simulated and experimental spectra do not exactly match in all respects, the methodology adopted has a definite role in understanding the complex surface functionality of treated carbon.
